A London council is replacing the single-use plastic element of its parking tickets.
Brent Council is replacing the recognisable yellow and white Penalty Charge Notice bags, which are historically made of single-use plastics, with a biodegradable alternative.
The authority says the bags are compostable 'but durable enough to last on windscreens in bad weather even if the driver does not return for several weeks'.
Councillor Krupa Sheth, Lead Member for Environment, said: “Small actions add up, which is why we’re taking this step to reduce single-use plastics in our operations.”
In July this year Brent joined councils across the country in declaring a climate and ecological emergency and committed to do 'all reasonable in its gift'.
