Plans to reduce plastic have been announced in today's Queen's Speech.
Number 10 issued a summary of the pledges, saying: "We will introduce a landmark Environment Bill to ensure that we protect and preserve this planet for generations to come.
"It will include measures to establish a new Office for Environmental Protection, increase local powers to tackle air pollution and introduce charges for specified single use plastic items."
In total The Government promised 26 bills. After Her Majesty opened the new session of Parliament this morning Number 10 Tweeted: "We are setting legal targets for the first time to improve air quality and cut plastic pollution."
